CHOLE PARATHA / CHICKPEAS PARATHA

One of the awesome paratha’s i have eaten till now. we like to eat it with a glass of buttermilk . Can be eaten without any accompaniment or with any vegetable raitha or Jaggery or Honey.

        Ingredients:

        For the dough:

  • Whole wheat flour (Godhi hittu) – 1 cup
  • Salt – 1/4 tsp
  • Oil – 1/2 tsp
  • Water to knead the dough

        For filling:

  • Chickpeas/chole (cooked) – 1 cup
  • Green chilli – 2
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Mint leaves (pudina) – 1/4 cup
  • Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup
  • Ginger paste – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

       

         PROCEDURE:

  • Mix all the ingredients & make a soft dough using enough water ( I used the strained water of cooked chole)
  • Grind together chickpeas, chilli, cumin seeds, mint leaves, coriander leaves & ginger paste to a fine paste adding 1 or 2 tbsp of water
  • Transfer the ground paste to a bowl and add Turmeric powder, red chilli powder,Garam masala powder and salt & combine well
  • Take a portion of the dough & stuff a portion of the filling and roll into a circle
  • Heat tawa & cook the paratha
  • Repeat with the remaining dough and filling
