ALMOND TIKKI CHAT

During this recent navaratri we tasted it in a restaurant. I wanted to try it at home so collected information on how to make this chat and tikki, and gave it a try. It tastes awesome. So sharing the recipe of the same with you all. To prepare this chat we need chole, aloo tikki, sweet chutney , Green chutney. So here is the recipe to make this almond tikki chat. I have used Palak chole  here, one can use plain chole also. So please find the recipe of Palak choley, sweet chutney and green chutney in different categories of my blog.

The measurements of the ingredients given below are for making one Almond tikki.

        Ingredients:

          To make one Almond tikki:

  • Potato – 1 big
  • Green peas (boiled) – 2 tbsp
  • Prepared chole – ( you can prepare fresh chole or you can make this chat when you have extra chole ie… left out choley)
  • Oil – 1/2 tsp
  • Almond flakes – 2 tbsp (soak almond in warm water for ten minutes , then peel the skin & slice it into flakes)
  • Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Roasted cumin powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Chopped green chilli – 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger paste – 1/4 tsp
  • Chat masala – 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste

       

        Other Ingredients:

        To prepare chat plate:

  • Choley – 1/4 to 1/2 cup ( here I have used Palak chole, one can use plain choley also)
  • Curds – 1/4 cup
  • Sweet chutney – 1 & 1/2 tbsp
  • Green chutney – 1 & 1/2 tbsp
  • Sev / spiced boondi – 1 to 2 tbsp
  • Chopped coriander leaves – 1 tbs

         

         PROCEDURE:

         For making Tikki:

  • Wash, Peel & cook Potato till soft and mash it
  • Heat oil , add cumin seeds, green chilli,ginger, cumin powder fry for a couple of second
  • Add mashed potato, boiled peas, chat masala and salt
  • Combine everything well and take out from the fire and let it cool

 

  •  Take cooled potato mixture and press it between your palm to get tikki shape

  • Roll it ( dip it) into the slurry (Flour & water mix, its a kind of binding agent)

  • Take out & immediately coat it with almond flakes, and put it in the fridge for 15 minutes

  • Now take out the rested tikki from the fridge & Pan fry (shallow fry) the tikki

Now its time to use ingredients under the heading….. ” to prepare chat plate “

  • Place a plate and pour choley into it, Place the tikki,Pour the curds, Sweet chutney, Green chutney, sprinkle sev/boondi, coriander leaves
