APPLE ALMOND KHEER — SEBU – BADAMI PAYASA

A kheer / payasa with all the goodness. I had soaked almonds to make some other dish ,  but i could not do due to some reason, so I wanted to use that soaked and peeled almond immediately… I had apple also which was very attractive red colour, suddenly it strike my mind that… how it will be if I use both almond and apple together and try some new dish, so with a very  few ingredients I tried it today… Its superbly yummy.. Now I would like to do it whenever I feel like.

 

 

        Ingredients:

  • Almond (soaked & peeled) – 1 cup
  • Apple – 1 big
  • Ghee – 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar – 3 -to 4 tbsp
  • Milk – 2&1/2 cups
  • Cardamom Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Saffron strands – 1/2 tsp

 

        PROCEDURE :

  • Grind coarsely soaked & peeled almonds with little milk (out of 2&1/2 cups)
  • Heat ghee and add ground almond paste and fry for one or two minutes
  • Add 1&1/2 cup of milk and sugar… mix well and let it boil
  • Mean while grate the apple and add it to the almond mix
  • Boil for two more minutes and add remaining milk & cardamom powder
  • Take out from the fire sprinkle saffron strands and Serve
  • It can be served hot or chilled
