FENUGREEK AND GUAVA / METHI AMROOD / MENTHYA SOPPU SEEBEHANNU/ SUBJI

A convenient way of eating fruits in winter. Otherwise we don’t feel like eating cold fruits in this cold weather. And this fruit is available in winter season only. So tried this recipe , followed Mrs. Nita Mehta’s book , making some changes to adapt it to our taste.  Its a good combination, we all liked it. Goes well with roti, chapati, phulka, rotti, poori etc.

 

 

 

        Ingredients:

  • Fenugreek leaves – 2 cups
  • Guavas – 2 big
  • Onion – 1/4 cup
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger paste – 1/2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 1/2 tbsp

 

        PROCEDURE:

  • Wash and chop fenugreek leaves, onion
  • Cut guavas into cubes
  • Heat oil add mustard seeds, ginger paste stir and add onions… cook till soft
  • Add fenugreek leaves and stir for few minutes
  • Add coriander, turmeric, red chilli, garam masala powder stir well for a minute
  • Add guavas and salt stir again for a minute
  • Add 1/4 cup water , cover and simmer the flame & leave it for 3-4 minutes to blend well
  • Combine everything once and serve hot
