GREEN SAGU

It’s a sagu/curry prepared using only green vegetables. It is also with less spices and ingredients. Again a healthy version of accompaniment with Poori,  roti, chapati, rotti and rice. It goes well with set dosa/dosay as well.

 

 

 

 

 

        Ingredients :

        Chopped vegetables :

  • Spinach – 1 cup
  • Broccoli florets – 1/4 cup
  • French beans – 1/4 cup
  • Green Peas – 1/4 cup
  • Fresh Green Chickpeas – 1/4 cup

 

        For Grinding :

  • Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup
  • Green chilli – 4 nos., or according to spice level
  • Roasted chana ( hurigadale ) – 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Khus-Khus – 1&1/2 tbsp
  • Grated fresh coconut – 1&1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste

 

        For Tempering :

  • Oil – 1/4 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves – few

 

 

        PROCEDURE:

  • Steam all the vegetables together and add required amount of salt
  • Grind the ingredients under the heading ‘ For grinding ‘ adding little salt ( as required )
  • Add ground paste to the cooked vegetables and let it boil , Add water if needed
  • Prepare tempering and pour it on the ready Sagu and serve
