PINEAPPLE-POHA-MOONG BATH / ANANAS HESARUBELE AVALAKKI BATH

Flatten Rice / Rice Flakes / Avalakki / Poha…. are its several names, usually eaten as a breakfast item. It has many health benefits. We can prepare many different dishes using Poha. Me as a person belonging to Malenadu ( My native ) crazy about Avalakki / Poha. Rice flakes / Poha come in many thicknesses and it is easily available in the market. It can be stored for a long time under proper storage conditions. Flatten Rice / Poha are lactose free, heart healthy and fat free. They are a good source of eleven vital minerals and vitamins including iron.It contains good amount of carbohydrates, which is good when eaten in the morning for breakfast.

 

 

 

 

         Ingredients :

  • Beaten Rice / Poha – 1/2 cup
  • Split green gram / Moong dal – 1/4 cup ( cooked )
  • Pineapple ( chopped ) – 1/2 cup ( I used 1/2 cup, but one can use more also )
  • Ghee – 1 tsp
  • Broken cashew nuts – 1 tbsp
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Grated dry coconut – 1/4 cup
  • Turmeric Powder – few pinches

 

        PROCEDURE :

  • Wash Poha, drain all the water and keep aside
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add cashews.. saute it, add pineapple pieces, turmeric powder, cooked dal, Poha and sugar one by one
  • Mix everything on medium flame
  • Transfer it to the container and sprinkle dry coconut and serve
