CHICKPEAS/CHANA SWEET POHA / KADALEKALU SIHI AVALAKKI

    Here is the recipe for Sweet version of poha / beaten rice using chickpeas. 

 

 

 

        Ingredients :

       For sweet version :

  • Beaten rice – 1 cup
  • Cooked chickpeas – 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery – 1/2 cup
  • Water – 1/4 cup
  • Ghee – 1/2 tbsp
  • Cashew nut pieces – 2 tbsp
  • Cloves – 2 nos.,
  • Grated fresh coconut – 2 tbsp ( Grated dry coconut also goes well with this )
  • Cardamom Powder – 2 or 3 pinches

 

 

       PROCEDURE :

  • Wash the beaten rice well and drain all the water and keep it aside covered
  • Heat the water in a container add jaggery, let it dissolve fully then strain it and keep it aside
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add cashews let it become golden brown… add cloves
  • Add Strained Jaggery water & chickpeas and let it boil…
  • Add beaten rice… combine everything well & add cardamom powder
  • Transfer into the bowl and sprinkle coconut and serve
