FINGER MILLET / RAGI IDLY

Ragi idly is a healthy, nutritious, tasty dish made using whole ragi, with high fiber content which helps to manage cholesterol problems. Ragi which helps in anemia and is an excellent plant source of natural Iron. It is a cereal loaded with Calcium, proteins and other minerals. I have written about it i my other posts, using ragi earlier. Making Idly using ragi is a wonderful food we serve to our family. Here is the recipe

 

 

 

        Ingredients :

  • Ragi / finger millet – 1 cup
  • Black gram / Urad dal – 1/2 cup
  • Beaten rice – 1 fist full
  • Salt to taste

   

        PROCEDURE :

  • Wash and soak Ragi and urad dal together for 8 or 9 hours
  • Wash Beaten rice one hour before grinding, drain all the water and keep it covered
  • Grind everything together till smooth, keep it covered for fermentation till 6 to 8 hours
  • Wet the idly moulds and pour the batter and steam for 10 to 12 minutes
  • Serve with any chutney
