HESARUKALU HUGGI/GREEN GRAM KHICHDI

An absolute winter special dish or I can say a suitable dish for this cold weather. A very healthy, easy, yummy dish made using very few ingredients, which is also considerably quick to make.
Today I served this dish with Gujarati sweet kadhi and both together goes very well and tasted heavenly.
Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml, servings – 2
- Green gram – 1/4 cup
- Rice – 1/4 cup
- Water – 2 cups + 3/4 cup
- Ghee – 1/2 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Green chilli – Ginger Paste – 1/2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp (adjust)
PROCEDURE :
- Boil 2 cups of water in pressure cooker, add in well rinsed green gram & rice and cook till 3 whistles (or as per you cooker requirement)

- Heat ghee in a pan, add in cumin seeds, chili-ginger paste, turmeric powder, saute for a while

- Now add in cooked gram-rice mixture, salt and 3/4 cup of water and allow it boil well until the mixture becomes thick
- Serve hot with sweet kadhi
