ಕಾಯಿ ಚಟ್ನಿ …ಇಡ್ಲಿ ದೋಸೆ ಗೆ |

This is the fresh coconut chutney prepared to use as an accompaniment with dosa, Idly, rotti (rice), Wada etc. both at homes as well as restaurants, hotels, Darshini etc

There is another version of kayi chutney which we make again as an accompaniment only, but is eaten mixed with steaming hot rice or along with sambar rice or rasam rice etc That chutney recipe is slightly different from this one.

This recipe can be further modified by adding a couple of table spoons of peanuts or we can put few mint leaves or an inch piece of ginger can also be added or a fistful of coriander leaves can also be added or a table soon full of roasted bengal gram(kadale bele) can also be added etc,

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 200 ml

  • Grated fresh coconut – 1 cup
  • Roasted chana (Hurigadale) – 1/3 cup
  • Green chillies – 4 to 6 or according to the spice level
  • Curry leaves – 4 to 6 leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Water – to grind

For tempering :

  • Oil – 1tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp

PROCEDURE :

  • Grind all the ingredients using 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water
  • Prepare tempering
  • Pour the tempering over the ground chutney and serve
