CHICKPEA ALMOND TIKKI CHAT|SIMPLE CHOLE TIKKI CHAT

During this recent Navaratri we tasted this particular chat in a restaurant. I wanted to try this at home so collected information on how to make this chat and tikki, and gave it a try and it turned out perfect. It tastes awesome. So gladly sharing the recipe of the same with you all. Basically to prepare this chat we need chole, aloo tikki, sweet chutney & Green chutney. The measurements of the ingredients given below are for making one Almond tikki

Today ie… on 25/02/18 we relished chole (plain/regular) tikki chat, so posting the pics of the same, followed the same procedure which I have given below, just skip chopped almond, rest the same

Ingredients :       

  • Potato – 1 big
  • Green peas (boiled) – 2 tbsp
  • Prepared chole – ( you can prepare fresh chole or you can make this chat when you have extra chole ie… left out choley)
  • Oil – 1/2 tsp
  • Almond flakes – 2 tbsp (soak almond in warm water for ten minutes , then peel the skin & slice it into flakes)
  • Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Roasted cumin powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Chopped green chilli – 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger paste – 1/4 tsp
  • chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
  • Chopped curry leaves – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

PROCEDURE :

For making Tikki :

  • Wash, Peel & cook Potato till soft and mash it
  • Heat oil , add cumin seeds, green chilli,ginger, cumin powder, coriander leaves and curry leaves fry for a couple of second
  • Add mashed potato, boiled peas, and salt
  • Combine everything well and take out from the fire and let it cool
  • Take a portion of the cooled potato mixture and press it between your palm to get tikki shape
  • Roll it ( dip it) into the slurry (rice flour & water mix, its a kind of binding agent, just stir rice flour in the water and make a thick paste)
  • Take out & immediately coat it with almond flakes, and put it in the fridge for 15 minutes
  • Now take out the rested tikki from the fridge & Pan fry (shallow fry) the tikki

Other Ingredients :

To prepare chat plate :

  • Chole – 1/4 to 1/2 cup ( here I have used Palak chole, one can use plain chole also)
  • Curds – 1/4 cup
  • Sweet chutney – 1 & 1/2 tbsp
  • Green chutney – 1 & 1/2 tbsp
  • Sev / spiced boondi – 1 to 2 tbsp
  • Chopped coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
  • Place a plate and pour Palak chole into it, Place the tikki,Pour the curds, Sweet chutney, Green chutney, sprinkle sev/boondi, coriander leaves and enjoy the Almond tikki chat
