Maize flour idly | Makai idly |

ಮುಸುಕಿನ ಜೋಳದ ಹಿಟ್ಟಿನ ಇಡ್ಲಿ

Today I used maize flour in yet another healthy way, ie….. made shavige/semiya idly using the same. Maize is a good source of Vitamins, Minerals and dietary fiber.

I wanted to try this Idly since long time. I made simple coconut chutney to pair with this idly, but can be eaten with any chutney. Its very simple, quick and fuss free to prepare with very few ingredients and it is very filling and yummy

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 200 ml

  • Maize flour – 1 cup
  • Green chilli paste – 1 tsp or  as needed
  • Salt to taste
  • Hot water to knead the dough

PROCEDURE :

  • Combine well maize flour, chilli paste and salt
  • Prepare stiff dough using hot water
  • Knead the dough really well
  • Pinch a portion of the dough, put it in the squeezer and squeeze on Idly plate
  • Steam for 10 to 12 minutes
  • Serve with any chutney
