ONION/EERULLI PULAO

Simple yet flavorful rice dish with minimum vegetables and and less time consumption. You can make this pulao when you are not in mood to cook, when you are running out of time, there are no many vegetables in stock etc etc. Today I served this pulao with unde huli/sandige huli/dumplings curry.
Ingredients :
- Rice – 1 cup
- Water – 2 cups
- Oil – 1 tbsp (adjust)
- Onion – 2 big (adjust)
- Tomato – 1 big (Chop half of the tomato and use remaining half for grinding)
- Fresh green peas – 1/2 cup
- Salt to taste
- Coriander leaves – to sprinkle
To grind :
- Grated fresh coconut – 1/2 cup
- Green chilli – 2 to 4
- ginger – 1/2 tbsp
- Black pepper corns – 1/2 tsp
- Cinnamon – 1 inch stick
- Cloves – 4 to 6
- Mint/Pudina leaves – 1/4 cup
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Remaining half portion of the tomato
PROCEDURE :
- Slice the onion and half portion of the tomato, rinse the rice, drain all the water and keep it aside
- Heat oil in a cooker, add in chopped onion, tomato and 1/2 cup of fresh green peas and saute well
- Gather all the ingredients listed under the heading ‘To grind’ and grind into a fine paste using water
- Now add in the ground paste, saute well and add in the water and allow it to boil
- Now add in rinsed rice and salt to taste and allow it to boil again
- Close the lid and cook it till one whistle, remove from the fire and allow it to cool
- Transfer the cooked pulao into a container and sprinkle coriander leaves
- Serve the onion pulao with any kind of raita, here I have served it with unde huli/sandige huli/dumplings curry
