This is just a thought transformed into a breakfast dish !! Yes protein rich, diabetic friendly breakfast recipe which also has got fermented goodness in it !!

Yes, last evening, when I was planning for today’s breakfast, thinking something in my mind, went to the kitchen and soaked the split bengal gram and split black gram in equal proportions in enough water …then followed by further processes and … guess what I obtained … I got this awesome protein rich, soft, fluffy, light enjoyable idlis

I have not taken any procedure pics as I was not sure of the outcome. So, soon shall post the process pics here on my blog.

This is a very simple, easy to follow recipe, which anyone can make without any extra effort

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml
  • Split bengal gram/chana dal/Kadale bele – 1/2 cup
  • Split black gram/urad dal/uddina bele – 1/2 cup
  • Salt – to taste
PROCEDURE :
  • Rinse well both the lentils separately and soak them in enough water separately for minimum 3 hours
  • Drain all the water from split black gram, transfer it to a mixie jar and grind into a fine paste by adding little water
  • Now to the same jar put salt and completely drained split bengal gram and grind until the bengal gram becomes slightly coarse
  • Transfer the ground batter to a slightly big vessel/container, cover and keep it overnight to ferment
  • Once fermented, pour into the wet idly mould and stem cook for 12 to 14 minutes, rest for five minutes
  • Serve soft, fluffy, light, steaming hot idlies along with any kind of chutney of your choice. Today I paired the idlies along with raw mango chutney.
