ಮಾವಿನಕಾಯಿ ಚಿತ್ರಾನ್ನ ಟೈಪ್ – 1
A yummy, simple, easy and quick raw mango rice/chitranna. This is the basic recipe which can be made very easily even by the beginners.
The main time consumption in this recipe is the time taken for cooking rice, once rice is ready it hardly takes less than five minutes to prepare this yummy rice dish.
Useful recipe to pack for lunch box and also this rice is prepare without fail on the day of Ugadi festival (Kannada new year day, Karnataka) in each and every home in Karnataka , so thought of sharing this easy chitranna recipe which one can prepare on any festival day for that matter

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 200 ml
- Cooked rice – 2 cups
- Grated raw mango – 1/2 cup ( I use it without peeling the skin)
- Grated fresh coconut – 1/2 cup or as per taste & requirement
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
For tempering :
- Oil – 2 tbsp ( I use 1 tbsp)
- Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Black gram – 1/2 tbsp
- Peanuts – 1/4 cup
- Green chilli – 4 to 6 finely chopped or paste
- Curry leaves – few
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
PROCEDURE :
- In a bowl put grated raw mango and on the top of it put the hot rice, cover mango gratings, press a little and leave it like that for 5 minutes
- Heat oil in a pan, add in all the ingredients one by one to prepare tempering
- Now pour the prepared tempering on rice mango mix, add in salt and combine everything well
- Put in grated coconut and coriander leaves and mix well
- Raw mango rice is ready to serve
