Fenugreek seeds/Menthya kalina tambuli

Tambuli is a curd based curry eaten at the beginning of the meal, mixed with hot rice in a comparatively less quantity. Not only this, any kind of tambuli for that matter.

This is one of our Malenadu (my native) special dish, which we would love to eat any day. This is a most common thing during summer season.

Very healthy, easy and quick recipe. You can also use sprouted fenugreek seeds.

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml

  • Oil – 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Whole red chilli – 1 (hot)
  • Grated fresh coconut – 3 tbsp

For tempering :

  • Ghee – 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds – 1 tbsp

Other Ingredients :

  • Curd – 1/4 cup or as required
  • Salt to  taste

 PROCEDURE :

  • Heat oil and roast everything (listed under the heading ‘Ingredients’) until light brown, let it cool, dry grind coarsely, then transfer to a bowl/container
  • Prepare the tempering using ingredients under the heading ‘ for tempering ‘
  • Add curd to the ground paste and mix well
  • Pour the tempering on it, combine everything well and serve
