Here in North India, that is in Delhi, Gurgaon, People make chana Poha by adding either Kala chana(brown chickpeas) or Kabuli chana(white chickpeas) along with poha/rice flakes and few regular spices.

So taking clue from them, I got this new idea of preparing chickpeas rice flakes in both sweet and spicy versions. Actually I/we, the people of malenadu love to consume rice flakes always in any form and during any time of the day happily. We never get bored of this dish rather each time we consume it with the same passion, though we are consuming it since decades.

We by default, regularly make ‘Oggarane avalakki(tempered rice flakes)’ for breakfast. So its just that, I have put cucumber along with cooked chickpeas to our own Oggarane avalakki. But I must say it becomes entirely different dish and turns out into an yummy, healthy dish which is rich in Protein, calcium and fibre. So adding couple of ingredients is the additional thing, rest the procedure remains the same as our own Oggarane avalakki.

And for the sweet version I have put cooked chickpeas to our own sihi avalakki(sweet Poha) which is always sweetened with Jaggery and we relish it whole heartedly every single time. But this time I have put thin version of rice flakes/Paper avalakki to the sweet version and this method also turns out to be very nutritious dish as we add much protein to the rice flakes.
