We know about the numerous health benefits of almonds. It could be great if we can consume these wonder nuts everyday. So one of the way to include almonds in our daily routine is to eat them as such or put it in the milk.

Today I’m here with a home made, fresh, fragrant, aromatic, energizing protein powder made using almonds and herbs to drink mixed with milk ie…home made badam milk powder/badami haalina pudi.

This can be added to the cold milk or hot milk, which ever way you like and both the ways it tastes superb. I have made it according to our requirement and taste but you can always alter the below mentioned ingredients as well as their proportions.

So here is the recipe for home made badam milk powder/badami haalina pudi. Make this protein rich powder at home and enjoy hot or cold

  • You can skip adding turmeric powder, but it is good for health and also gives the milk very nice color
  • You can chop the blanched almond and then roast them
  • You can add in 1/2 tsp of Black pepper corns (roast it along with almonds) to this powder during winter
  • You can add this powder to the payasa/Kheer to get that extra flavor

Please do check other recipes using almond here – chole almond tikki chat , apple almond kheer , Peas-almond yakhni pulao , almond chutney , carrot-almond milk shake , almond laddoo , apple almond halwa, banana halwa with walnut & almond , almond walnut chickpea flour laddoo , besan laadu , peanut kadhi along with almonds , almond banana paratha , badami holige

  • Almonds/badam/badami – 1 cup
  • Sugar (here I have used date palm rock sugar) – 1/3 cup (adjust)
  • Saffron strands – 1/2 gram
  • Cardamom powder – 3/4 tsp
  • Cloves – 8
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Soak the almonds in a rolling boiled water for 5 to 7 minutes, drain all the water, then peel them and spread on a clean cloth (spread the almonds on half part of the cloth and cover the other half on them) for few minutes to dry
  • Roast the almonds in heavy bottomed pan on low heat until all the moisture is gone and the nuts turns crunchy (do not burn & the color should not change), also roast (warm) the cloves and let it cool completely
  • Below is the image of date palm rock sugar
  • Now gather all the above mentioned other ingredients in a mixie jar along with roasted almonds & cloves and blend them for few seconds only, at a time
  • Do not run the mixie for long time because there is a chance of almond releasing the oil and the whole powder will turn moist and it may get spoiled fast when stored
  • Sieve the powder and blend again the coarse powder remaining in the sieve – repeat for 2 to 3 times
  • Transfer to a wide bowl, spread the powder and let it be like that for half an hour or so, then transfer to a air tight container, use as and when needed
