One of the quick, simple, spicy, yummy, healthy breakfast recipe using rice flakes & raw mango. Today I’m going to share one more recipe using rice flakes/avalakki/Poha ie kayi sasive avalakki meaning coconut-mustard paste rice flakes, peesa nariyal aur rayi ka poha.
Earlier I have posted many kinds of recipes which uses rice flakes/beaten rice/Poha/avalakki like – rice flakes/avalakki bisibelebath , rice flakes/avalakki payasa , mint flavored tangy rice flakes/avalakki , peanut poha/avalakki , cucumber rice flakes/southekayi avalakki , hing avalakki , avalakki/rice flakes laddu , rice flakes/avalakki haalbayi , avalakki huggi/rice flakes khara pongal , red rice flakes bisibelebath , Kuttavalakki/Pounded rice flakes , rice flakes/avalakki sweet pongal , walnut sweet rice flakes , rice flakes/avalakki khara bath , avalakki puri unde , sweet & sour rice flakes/huli sihi avalakki , 1/4 cup halwa using rice flakes , Karida khara sihi avalakki , Peas Pista poha/rice flakes – video recipe
Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml, servings 3 to 4
- Rice flakes/avalakki/Poha – 1&1/2 cup
- Water – 1/4 to 1/2 cup
- Jaggery – 1 tbsp
- Coriander leaves – for garnishing
For grinding :
- Grated raw mango – 3/4 cup
- Grated fresh coconut – 3/4 cup
- Green chili – 10 nos., (you can adjust depending on the sourness of mango)
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tbsp
- Curry leaves – 2 stings
- Rock salt – 1 tbsp
For tempering :
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Split black gram – 1/2 tbsp
- Groundnut seeds – 1/3 cup
- Curry leaves – 2 strings
PROCEDURE :
- To begin with rinse & wash well the rice flakes, drain all the water, cover and set aside. (Put 1/4 cup of water only if you find the rice flakes is too thick, otherwise no need, I have added 1/4 cup of water because rice flakes was to thick)
- Gather and grind together all the ingredients listed below the heading ‘for grinding’ using little water
- Heat oil in a pan/kadai, add all the ingredients listed below the heading ‘for tempering’ and let them splutter
- Reduce the heat and then add in the ground coconut-mango mixture, jaggery and saute for a minute or so
- Now add in the rinsed rice flakes and stir while combining everything well on high heat , turn off the heat and sprinkle coriander leaves
- Yummy, spicy, tangy coconut mustard rice flakes/kayi sasive avalakki is ready to be relished
