ಖರ್ಜೂರದ ಹೋಳಿಗೆ

One of the yummy sweet dish containing Iron……! Iron is an important nutrient for our body and for our health. Iron carries oxygen around the body. If Iron stores are low then our body is prone to more frequent infections.

So getting the right amount of iron and other nutrients from food is very important. Now coming to this Holige/Puranpoli… Its a sweet dish without using any direct sweetener like… sugar or jaggery, If needed also, we use jaggery and that too in a very smaller proportion. This is the best thing what I like about this dish.

Besides it also has got the goodness of almonds, sesame seeds, dry coconut and poppy seeds. This can also be prepared as a sweet dish for functions or can be made for breakfast just like paratha, both the ways it serves the purpose.

I like the combo of temple chitranna & this Puranpoli.  I’m planning to make dates paratha using chiroti rava (fine quality rava) also, shall post the pic here once I try it out.

The below quantity of ingredients yielded 4 holige or paratha, I have divided both the dough and the filling into 4 equal parts. But you can make them smaller also or keep it like shown in the pic.

Check out for some more sweet Paratha/Puran Poli recipes on my blog ⇒  Peanut sweet paratha , Carrot Puran Poli/sweet paratha , Pineapple holige , wheat flour bele holige , apple chilli paratha , sweet potato paratha , dates & sesame seeds paratha , quick groundnut sweet paratha , gud ka paratha , almond banana paratha , Pumpkin sweet paratha/holige , Beetroot sweet Paratha (made using beetroot halwa) , Banana holige/Puran Poli , Gujarati Vedmi/Puran Poli , Pumpkin wheat flour Puran Poli , Sakkare Holige/Sugar & dry coconut Puran Poli
