Would like to know how to make Ragi mudde ? then here is my method of making this nutritious, energetic, Calcium rich dish from Karnataka & Mysore region.

In Villages they add broken rice along with the ragi flour and make it very hard & big in size quantity wise, as that is their method of making and eating Ragi mudde. But we make it comparatively soft  and small in size.

Actually this is simple, quick, healthy and filling food. Below you can check the detailed recipe with step wise images

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml

  • Ragi flour – 1 cup + 1 tbsp
  • Water – 2 cups
  • Ghee – 2 tsp (adjust)
  • Salt to taste

PROCEDURE :

  • In a vessel or karahi add 1&1/2 cups of water, salt, ghee and bring it to boil
  • Now dissolve 1 tbsp ragi flour in that remaining 1/2 cup of water and add this to the boiling water and stir well
  • When the water starts boiling rapidly, then add that 1 cup of ragi flour all at once in the centre and turn the flame to sim  & let it boil like that for 2-3 minutes
  •  Now with a spatula keep combining the boiling mixture until it becomes thick, leaves the edges and comes out as a whole
  • Let it cool a bit, wet your palm and make balls
