Though making this snack at home since so many years, never thought of posting the recipe here on my blog. But I guess today is that day! Going to post the recipe of one of our (almost everyone’s) most favorite, namma Bengaluru bakery goody, yummy snack – masala bread toast.
Trust me you can get this mouth watering snack in each & every bakery, any day, any time, round the clock in namma Bengaluru. We relish this snack too very often but still feel like can’t get enough of it.
Red chili powder (kashmiri/less hot) – 1&1/2 to 2 tsp (adjust)
Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Roasted gram powder or roasted peanut powder – 1 to 2 tbsp (optional)
Sugar – 1 tbsp
Salt – 1 tsp
Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
Water (if needed) – 1 or 2 tbsp
PROCEDURE :
Heat oil in a pan, put mustard seeds, green chili and curry leaves, when they crackle, add in onion and saute until turns transparent, then put carrot and tomato, saute until everything turns soft. Then add in salt and stir well
Now put turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander seeds powder, red chili powder, black pepper powder and roasted gram or peanut powder (if using) and stir while combining everything well
Now add in sugar and coriander leaves, give the mixture a final stir and remove from the heat and let it come to room temperature
Meanwhile lightly toast the bread on the heated tawa on both the sides or in toaster
Now spread a good amount of masala mixture on each loaf of the bread and enjoy with hot coffee or tea
