As the name itself depicts its a kind of preparation with ripen mangoes, which is available in plenty in this season. It is generally eaten with Hittina holige (rice flour stuffed wheat flour paratha) Chapati or Poori, but at my place we eat it with rice rotti, beaten rice rotti and sometimes with ragi rotti as well. It is easy to prepare with very few ingredients.
Ingredients :
- Ripen Mangoes – 3 big
- Sugar – 2 tbsp (add less if mangoes are sweet)
- Cardamom powder OR ELD Powder – 1/4 tsp ( Powder made out of equal quantity of Elaichi, Laung, Dalchini, I always keep it handy & use in many dishes)
- Milk – 1/4 cup
PROCEDURE :
- Keep 1/4 cup of water in a bowl by the side
- Wash & Peel the skin of the mangoes and put that skin in the bowl of water
- In another vessel squeeze the mango with your hands to get the pulp
- Also squeeze the mango peel in that bowl of water and add that to the vessel containing pulp
- Add sugar and stir till it dissolves, then add ELD powder, camphor and Milk
- Combine well and serve
