Red pumpkin stir fry| sihi kumbalakayi Palya

I usually prepare Kootu (curry), Sihi tovve(dal), huli tovve (sambar), raita and Palya (subji) using Red/Green Pumpkin or Kaddu.

And I always use small round red/green pumpkin while making Palya/subji. Here I’m going to share the recipe of the same with you all.

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml

  • Pumpkin (chopped) – 2 cups
  • Grated fresh coconut – 1/4 cup
  • Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Green chilli paste or red chilli flakes or whole red chillies – as per taste  (I have used green chilli paste)
  • Salt to taste
  • water to cook pumpkin (actually it takes little water)

For tempering :

  • Oil – 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Bengal gram – 1 tsp
  • Black gram – 1 tsp

PROCEDURE :

  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, bengal gram, black gram
  • When it splutter add chopped Pumpkin, stir once and add water, cover and cook till little soft
  • Now add chilli paste, coriander leaves, curry leaves stir add salt and coconut
  • Combine everything well
  • Its ready to serve
