TOMATO CHAT

One among the very famous street chats from Bengaluru, tomato chat is very less known to the people from outside this city. It is a combo of health, guilt free, low calorie yummy food which can be prepared at home very easily & quickly as well. I did it in a hurry, so the images are not so good, but I ensure that shortly I will prepare it shortly very soon and shall post the proper pics.

Ingredients :  For arranging 1 Plate

  • Tomato –  – 1 big
  • Onion – 1 medium sized
  • Carrot – 1 medium sized
  • sweet & green chutney – 8 to 10 tsp or adjust as per taste
  • Puffed rice – 1 cup
  • Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp (non spicy)
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Coconut Oil – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves – to sprinkle on the chat

PROCEDURE :

  • Finely chop the onion and grate the carrot, combine them together and also cut the coriander leaves, keep them aside
  • Gather together the puffed rice, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and oil and mix them well
  • Rinse well and slice the tomato, remember not to keep it too thin and arrange in a plate
  • Apply green chutney , Place a spoon full of onion-carrot mixture on it, apply sweet chutney
  • Now generously sprinkle the prepared puffed rice mixture on the top
  • Garnish with coriander leaves, pomegranate seeds and serve

    

 

OR…. OR….OR….OR

  • Prepare green chutney using 1 cup coriander leaves, 2 to 3 green chillies, 1/4 cup of mint/pudina leaves and salt, grind them into a fine paste using little water
  • To this prepared paste/chutney add in 1 or 2 tbsp (adjust) of dates syrup, combine well

  

  • You can buy readily available dry bhelpuri packets like Haldiram’s bhelpuri mix or Haldiram’s diet lemon bhel or Haldiram’s diet Jhal muri or Garden (brand) diet bhel or Garden instant bhel mix or Bombay dry bhel puri mix is the best among all, and just add in chopped onion, grated carrot, pomegranate and coriander leaves, add in little salt required for the veggies, combine everything well

  • Arrange the sliced tomato in a plate, put date syrup mixed green chutney on it, spread the bhel + veggies mixture on it and SERVE
