A very healthy filling breakfast idea using the whole ragi, which is a diabetic friendly recipe as well. Tastes superb when dunked in mixed vegetable sambar (Darshini style).

A nutritious, fibre rich, deliciously healthy, calcium-rich whole ragi button Idly recipe which can be served to any age group people including children and aged as well. This can be consumed in the form of brunch as this is a very filling dish.

Ingredients :

  • Whole ragi/Finger millet – 2 cups
  • Split back gram/urad dal – 1 cup

PROCEDURE : 

  • Rinse and soak ragi and urad dal for 8 to 9 hours
  • Grind into thick batter using the needed amount of water
  • Cover and keep it for 7 to 8 hours or overnight for fermentation
  • Make idly using mini idly plates (steam them for 12 minutes)
