UPPITTU/UPMA …… simple & easiest recipe

A very simple, easy plain upma preparation by Manoj. One more recipe added to his collection/learner’s recipe/beginners recipe. Made using very less quantity of semolina/sooji, which is enough for one person. Again I just guided him and he prepared it fully by himself.
Ingredients : the measuring cup used here is of 250 ml
- Semolina/uppittu rave/sooji – 1/4 cup
- Water – 3/4 cup
- Carrot – 1/4 cup (chopped)
- Oil – 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/8 tsp
- Split bengal gram/chana dal/Kadalebele – 1 tsp
- Split black gram/urad dal/uddina bele – 1 tsp
- Green chilli – 1 medium sized
- Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves – 1 string
- Turmeric powder – 1/8 tsp
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
- Ghee – 1/2 tsp
PROCEDURE :
- Dry roast the semolina/rave/sooji in a pan on medium fire, by continuously stirring and without burning
- Transfer to a plate and heat the oil in the same pan
- Put mustard seeds, bengal gram, black gram, green chilli, coriander leaves, curry leaves, turmeric powder one by one, when they splutter put chopped carrot, saute for a while and add in 3/4 cups of water and salt and allow it to boil
- When the mixture is boiling well, put ghee, stir once and turn the heat to sim and slowly add in the roasted semolina/sooji/rave with your left hand while stirring continuously with the right hand
- Stir well, cover and allow it to get cooked on sim heat only till done for 3 – 4 minutes
- Turn off the heat, let it sit for 5 minutes,then serve
