Hesarukalu dosay or whole green gram dosa is an healthy, quick, instant dish. This is a recipe of a dosa/dosay variety which requires less effort as no need to soak the ingredients for long time and no need to ferment the batter.

In other words a simple, healthy, easy, quick or instant kind of dosa/dosay recipe which is rich in protein. As I have mentioned earlier in one of my post special spice powder for dosa/dosay, now I use this spice powder to sprinkle on any kind of dosa/dosay.

Therefore this time when I made whole green gram dosa/dosay, Just like that for a change I sprinkled this spice powder on the dosa/dosay along with finely chopped raw onion and it tasted different and superb.

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml

  • Whole green gram/sabut moong/hesarukalu – 1&1/2 cups
  • Rice – 1/4 cup
  • Green chili – 4
  • Ginger – 1 tbsp (tightly packed)
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt – 1/2 tbsp (adjust)
  • Water to grind

Others :

PROCEDURE :

  • Rinse well and soak whole green gram and rice in enough water for minimum 2 hours
  • Gather green chili, ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, salt and soaked gram-rice mixture (drain all the water in which it is being soaked) and grind into a smooth paste (the batter should be neither too thin nor too thick)
  • Heat the tawa, reduce the heat to low, pour a ladle full of batter and spread evenly into a thin circle, sprinkle the special spice powder for dosa/dosay and chopped onion
  • Increase the heat, smear little oil on the dosa/dosay, press the sprinkled onion lightly, let it cook – the dosa turns crisp
  • Fold once and remove to a plate and serve with any chutney of your choice
