Delicious uddina bele unde/ladoos, which are kids friendly, lentil based summer vacation special dishes, which I have grown up eating and continued to do so with my children also.

A nutritious unde/laddoo made using uddina bele/urad dal/split black gram. A very healthy, tasty, yummy easy to prepare recipe with very minimum set of ingredients. Home made besan unde/laddoo, split green gram unde/laddoo, split black gram unde/laddoo, congress kadlebeeja, chooda avalakki , puri oggarane (masala puffed rice), rave unde etc etc were the regular permanent sweet-snacks delicacies which we used to indulge in during summer vacation.

So today let us look at the recipe of uddina bele unde/split black gram laddoo/urad dal laddoo and one by one I shall share the recipes of the above mentions sweets and snacks

Some of the sweets & snacks on my blog are – rave unde , badami unde , rajgira laddoo/unde , besan almond walnut unde , wheat walnut unde , avalakki unde , Pullangayi unde , besan laadu , aralu unde , avalakki puri unde , boondi ladoo

baked bread rolls , instant brown bread dahi vada , authentic muchhore , Kuttavalakki , Janmashtami snacks , Sorghum flakes mixture , corn flakes mixture , Congress Kadale beeja , hing avalakki , madduru vada

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml, makes 13 nos., of ladoos of shown size

  • Split black gram/urad dal/uddina bele – 1 cup
  • Sugar – 3/4 cup (I have used raw cane sugar)
  • Cloves – 4 nos.,
  • Ghee – 3 tbsp
  • Broken cashews – 2 tbsp
  • Raisins – 1&1/2 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp

PROCEDURE :

  • Dry roast the black gram, until it releases nice aroma and turns light brown on medium flame by stirring continuously and without burning
  • Then transfer to a plate, once it cools down completely, transfer to a mixie jar and grind into a fine powder
  • Grind the sugar by adding cloves and cardamom powder, smoothly and pour on the powdered black gram, combine everything well
  • Heat the ghee and roast the broken cashews and raisins in it and pour on the ground mixture, mix well, pinch the portions and make laddoos
  • The laddoos are ready to relish
