Sorghum Onion Kadhi | Jowar Kadhi |

ಜೋಳದ ಕಢಿ | ಜೋಳ ಮತ್ತು ಈರುಳ್ಳಿ ಕಢಿ |
Kadhi is as such one of my favorite side dish, but onion kadhi is my most favorite. Today sharing with you all the recipe of onion kadhi by adding sorghum flour/jowar flour/jolada hittu.
This Jowar kadhi is a simple, quick side dish which tastes superb with both roti as well as rice. Today I paired this kadhi with sorghum/jowar/jolada rotti/roti – one of the winter special breakfast idea.

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml
- Onion – 1 big
- Curd – 1 cup
- Water – 1/2 cup (adjust)
- Sorghum/jola/jowar flour – 1 to 1&1/2 tbsp
- Ghee – 2 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tbsp
- Green chili – 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves – few
- Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
- Ginger – 1/2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/3 tsp
- Red chili powder (less hot) – 1/2 tsp
- Hing – 1/8 tsp
- Salt – to taste
PROCEDURE :
- Peel the skin, wash and slice the onion
- Lightly whisk the curd, add in jowar flour and salt, (only as much required for curd and flour) whisk again to get it lump free and set aside
- Heat ghee in a pan, add in cumin seeds, when they splutter add in green chili, curry leaves, coriander leaves and ginger, stir once
- Then add in sliced onion and saute until translucent, then put the salt, turmeric powder and red chili powder, combine everything well
- Now turn the heat to low and add in whisked curd-flour mixture and stir continuously on high heat until the mixture turns little thick
- Now add in water to adjust the consistency, boil further and remove from the heat
- Serve with roti or rice
