Makki Ki Roti | Maize Flour Roti |

ಮಕ್ಕಿ ಕೀ ರೋಟಿ | ಮುಸುಕಿನ ಜೋಳದ ಹಿಟ್ಟಿನ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ |
Super easy to make this winter special traditional dish from Punjabi cuisine, makki ki roti or maize flour flat bread has now become one of our most favorite delicacy to relish during chilli weather.
This is just exactly like making our Karnataka special traditional breakfast dish akki rotti/rice flour rotti. or ragi rotti.
Both the rice flour and the maize flour are gluten free flours. Maize flour is an important source of vitamins like B1, B5, vitamin C and rich in fiber and antioxidants.
Makki ki roti or maize flour roti tastes best when paired with Sarson ka saag and a dollop of home made butter along with a piece of jaggery
Ingredients : measuring cup used 250 ml
- Maize flour/makai ka atta – 1&1/2 cup
- Red chili flakes – 1 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Warm water – to knead the dough
PROCEDURE :
- Gather together maize flour, chili flakes and salt, mix well
- Knead into soft dough by using water little at a time, knead it really well

- Divide into portions, spread on a greased butter paper using your greased fingers into a thick circle (it is just like how we make akki rotti)

- Roast/toast on both the sides on a heated tawa (I did not sprinkle any extra oil, but if you choose to please go ahead)

By the way, here you can have a look at the recipe of how to make Sarson Ka Saag or mustard leaves and greens curry
