On this auspicious day made this Payasa/kheer/salad using sago/sabbakki/sabudana along with fresh fruits.
This sabbakki fresh fruits Payasa or sago fresh fruits kheer/salad also has the goodness of rock date palm sugar and the melon seeds.
This Payasa/kheer is made without using ghee and other kinds of nuts and fruits – that’s the specialty about this Payasa/kheer.
Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml, servings 4 to 5
- Sago/sabbakki/sabudana – 1/4 cup
- Water – 2 cups
- Milk – 1 cup
- Saffron strands – 1/4 tsp
- Rock dates palm sugar – 1 tbsp (powdered) (adjust)
- Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp
- Roasted melon seeds – 2 tbsp
- Cut fresh fruits of you choice
- Here I have used – 1 sweet lime/mosambi, 1 orange, 4 elaichi banana/yelakki balehannu, seeds of 1 pomegranate and 1 cup of papaya
PROCEDURE :
- To begin with soak the saffron strands in 1 cup of warm milk
- Boil 2 cups of water in a cooker, put 1/4 cups of sago and cook until one whistle, once the pressure is released, transfer to another bowl or vessel and let it cool completely
- Now gather together the cut fresh fruits, cooked sago, powdered sugar, cardamom powder and saffron milk in a big/wide bowl and combine everything well
- Sprinkle the roasted melon seeds and transfer to a serving dish
