Fiber rich, enriched with vitamins and minerals carrot Phulka is an absolute healthy choice for any time of the day. I have paired this with achari aloo and both together tastes awesome
Particularly carrots are a good source of beta carotene, antioxidants, Potassium, fibre besides also being low in calorie
Here you should definitely check my recipe of carrot Kosambari, which I’m soon going to publish here, which is made using carrot and couple of other healthy stuffs and which is also a regular side dish in most of the households in Bangalore/Karnataka.
Lets have a look at how to make this awesome, fibre rich Paratha using very few ingredients. As you can see this recipe is in both written form and video demonstration
Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml, makes 12 Phulkas of shown size
- Grated carrot – 1 cup
- Water – 1/4 cup + 2 to 3 tbsp
- Whole wheat flour – 2 cups + little more for dusting
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
PROCEDURE :
- Grind the grated carrot by adding 1/4 cup of water into a fine paste
- In a parath/wide bowl take the whole wheat flour, add salt and ground carrot paste and knead into a stiff dough. Put 2 or 3 more tbsp of water only if essential
- Divide into equal portions (often phulkas are made small in size) and roll by dusting with flour, it shouldn’t be either too thick or too thin
- First put it on the heated tawa and toast a little until brown spots appear on both the sides, then put it directly on the heat (refer the above video)
- Repeat with the remaining dough and relish super soft phulkas with any kind of subji or dal.
