TOMATO-FRESH GREEN CHICKPEAS RICE……. palyada pudi kalesida anna

My own created recipe, but in the regular concept of making Kalasida anna ie… subji masala mixed rice. I prepare it for quite some years during every winter, but never has posted it in the blog. So I guess this is the right time to share the recipe with you all, as we get plenty of tomato and fresh green chickpeas now in the market.
Ingredients :
- Cooked rice – 3 to 4 cups
- Tomato – 2 big or 5 medium sized
- Fresh green chickpeas – 1 cup
- Subji masala/palyada pudi – 2 to 3 tbsp (adjust)
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Grated fresh coconut – 1/2 cup (optional)
- Lemon juice – as per taste (optional)
- Salt to taste
For tempering :
- Oil – 1 tbsp (Adjust, I use this much)
- Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Black gram – 1/2 tbsp
- Ginger – 1/2 tbsp
- Curry leaves – 1 string
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
PROCEDURE :
- Rinse well and cook chickpeas till soft by adding salt
- Chop tomatoes and keep it ready
- Heat oil in a pan, add in all the ingredients listed under the heading ‘for tempering’
- Add in chopped tomatoes and saute it till little soft, then add the Subji masala/palyada pudi, turmeric powder and salt, mix everything well
- Now add in cooked chickpeas and cooked rice, combine everything well, sprinkle coconut if using
- Serve hot tomato-chickpeas rice as such or with any raita
