Sri Krishna Janmashtami is around the corner and this recipe, avarekalu chakkuli or hyacinth beans chakkuli, which I’m going to share now would be helpful to make on that day. Happy Gokulashtami to you all in advance, may Lord Krishna bless us all.

During his recent visit to Mumbai, Suresh brought hyacinth beans or avarekayi. I could make avarekalu akki rotti or rice flour rotti, avarekayi huli, avarekalu saaru, avarekalu Uppittu (Upma) and this avarekalu chakkuli.

Suresh travels to Mumbai too very often since so many years, but we weren’t aware that, there this hyacinth beans or avarekayi is available during rainy season unlike during winters in namma Bengaluru. Very recently he learnt this from his colleague Mrs. Jyothi Lad.

Today I haven’t put tender and green hyacinth beans, but during season when they are available in plenty, we can put tender and green coloured ones, which in turn may make the chakkuli look attractive or I’m not sure they may also look slightly green coloured.

By the way you can also check these snack recipes posted here on my blog, like – Instant rice flour chakkuli/chakli , Sihi mattu kharada avalakki , Karjikayi or Kadubu or Gujiya made in 2 Types
