Yes, today again I wanted to make something different for breakfast and after thinking about many possibilities, I brought this special recipe into existence

Both rice flakes and semolina have sticky properties due to high water absorption quality, therefore making this rotti is not that difficult.

I’m very delighted to have come up with this scrumptious dish. I do insist you all to make this seasonal special avalakki rotti or avalakki spring onion dry fruit and nuts rotti before winter ends

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml

  • Semolina or rave – 1&1/4 cup
  • Rice flakes (thick) – 1 cup
  • Spring onion – 2 cups
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Sesame seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Carom seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Green chili, chopped – 1
  • Almond, finely chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Walnut, finely chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Pistachios – 1/4 cup
  • Raisin – 1/4 cup
  • Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
  • Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup
  • Salt to taste

Others :

  • Water – to form the dough
  • Oil/ghee – to spread the rotti and smear on it

PROCEDURE :

  • To begin with soak all the 3 nuts in boiled water for 15 to 20 minutes so that it turns soft as well as clean, then chop finely
  • Wash well the rice flakes in a colander, do not squeeze, cover and set aside until most of water is drained out
  • In a parath or bowl take semolina, wet rice flakes, spring onion, raisins, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, coriander leaves, curry leaves , green chilies, carom seeds and salt mix everything once
  • Now put chopped nuts and knead into a dough by adding required water, cover and rest it for 10 minutes, then divide into equal portions
  • Meanwhile heat the tawa, spread little oil with a brush
  • Take parchment paper, grease it allover with oil, take a portion of the dough and spread it evenly. Keep it slightly thick
  • Put it on the heated tawa, carefully remove the parchment paper and cook on both the sides by smearing little oil
