Finger millet idly | Whole ragi idly |

ರಾಗಿ ಇಡ್ಲಿ | ಮಿಲ್ಲೆಟ್ ಇಡ್ಲಿ |
Ragi idly is a healthy, nutritious, tasty dish made using whole ragi, with high fiber content which helps to manage blood sugar levels and cholesterol problems.
Ragi which helps in anemia and is an excellent plant source of natural Iron. It is a cereal loaded with Calcium, proteins and other minerals. I have written about it in my other posts, using ragi earlier, which you can certainly check
Making Idly using whole ragi is a most healthy, wonderful food we serve to our family. Here is the recipe for this superfood, which is very much suitable for people with diabetes.
Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml
- Whole ragi/finger millet – 1 cup
- Split black gram/Urad dal – 1/2 cup
- Red rice flakes – 1/4 cup
- Fenugreek seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
PROCEDURE :
- Wash well and soak Ragi, split black gram, fenugreek seeds and rice flakes together for 8 to 9 hours in enough water (you can soak rice flakes separately too)






- Drain all the water from both the soaked stuffs and grind everything together till smooth, transfer to a container, cover and let it ferment for 8 to 9 hours or overnight



- Wow !! look at the well fermented batter – a feast for the eyes… isn’t it




- Wet the idly moulds and pour the batter and steam for 12 to 13 minutes
