This dish ade rotti, is just the dry version of our traditional, age old Karnataka special ade dosa/dosay, turned into a crisp rotti – an idea I have had in mind for a long time and I wanted to try making it this way and today was the day I guess.

So, now we have a protein-rich rotti recipe as well, just like we have had a protein-rich dosa recipe all these years and in my opinion this rotti should be made at least twice in a week to get all the benefits of protein in our diet

Let me know if you make this healthy, new, wonderful recipe, which we all at home enjoyed thoroughly and I’m definitely going to include this recipe into my list of regularly made dishes

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 200 ml

For soaking :

  • Split bengal gram – 1/4 cup
  • Split black gram – 1/4 cup
  • Split green gram with skin – 1/4 cup
  • Masoor lentil – 1/4 cup
  • Sago – 1/4 cup

For making rotti :

  • Soaked mixed lentils – 1&1/2 cups
  • Ginger – 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
  • Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup
  • Green chilli – 1 or 2
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Black pepper powder – 1/8 tsp
  • Semolina – 1 cup
  • Onion – 1 cup
  • Grated carrot – 3/4 cup
  • Salt – to taste

PROCEDURE :

  • Rinse and wash well all the lentils along with sago, soak in enough water for overnight. The more you soak the more it gets digested easily.
  • Take 1&1/2 cups of soaked, drained mixed lentils + sago mixture and grind together with salt and hing without adding water
  • Then put green chilies, curry leaves, ginger, pepper powder and turmeric powder and grind again, transfer to a wide bowl/parath, also put semolina and mix everything well, cover and rest it for 10 to 15 minutes
  • Now put onion and carrot to the ground paste semolina mixture, combine everything well, divide into equal portions and spread evenly on a greased parchment paper
  • Cook on both the sides on a heated tawa by smearing oil, serve along with any kind of accompaniment of your choice. Today I paired this ade rotti along with seasonal Plum chutney
