One day I just thought, that what happens if I put rajgira leaves or harive soppu or dantina soppu while making rotti using ragi or any other flour for that matter!
So this is the outcome of that fantastic thought
So, what next? I instantly turned that concept into reality, and the result was loved by everyone at home – so healthy, tasty, flavourful and yummy
Rajgira (Amaranth) or Harive/dantina Soppu (Red/Green Amaranth) are nutritional powerhouses loaded with iron, calcium, fibre and vitamins.
As you already know, I make rotti using many other verities of greens like fenugreek, spinach, dill etc and we are doing that since long time, right? but today, for the first time, I have added rajgira leaves, and to my knowledge, I haven’t seen anyone else do this
Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml
- Ragi flour – 1&1/2 cups
- Rajgira/harive/dantina leaves – 2 cups
- Green chilies – 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tbsp
- Sesame seeds – 1 tsp
- Salt to taste – I have put 3/4 tsp
PROCEDURE :
- Gather together all the ingredients listed above in a parath/bowl and mix everything well
- Cover and rest it for some time, say about 15 to 20 minutes
- Now form it into soft a dough by adding sufficient water gradually (it takes very little water, so add water carefully)
- Divide into equal portions, spread evenly on a greased butter or parchment paper
- Cook on both the sides on a heated tawa by smearing little oil
- This rajgira leaves or harive or dantina soppina ragi rotti can be paired along with any kind of curry, chutney, huli, Palya etc

Today I paired this amaranth leaves or harive/dantina soppina ragi rotti along with cucumber mint chach/buttermilk rice and apple chutney

Below you are looking at apple chutney (made in the exact same way I make my seasonal plum chutney)
