I never in my dreams thought I would come up with such a finger-licking good recipe with Paneer ! This is such a delicious recipe and turned out so good

We, the people of Bangalore, prepare sasive ie curd based mustard curry with various vegetables and the most famous one is southekayi sasive or cucumber mustard curd curry.

But today, for a change, I put roasted paneer instead of any vegetables and used less curd comparatively, as I wasn’t sure if more amount of curd goes well with paneer

People of west bengal also make similar recipe, but they deep fry the paneer, do steam everything and also add couple of other stuffs as well along with pungent mustard oil and they call it as Bhapa Shorshe Paneer, therefore it definitely tastes different from what I have made today

Anyhow, go ahead and make this very easy and quick Paneer mosaru sasive, which requires very little cooking. And yes, please ensure it has a thick consistency and slightly more spicy

Ingredients : measuring cup used – 250 ml

  • Oil – Just enough to brush the tawa/griddle
  • Paneer – 125 gms
  • Hung curd, really thick – 4 tbsp

To grind together :

  • Fresh coconut – 1/3 cup
  • Green chilli – 4 (adjust)
  • Mustard seeds, black – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds, yellow – 1/2 tsp
  • Rock salt – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

For tempering :

  • Ghee – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Dhana dal (roasted split coriander seeds) – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 2 sprigs

PROCEDURE :

  • To begin with, brush heated tawa/griddle with oil and toast the paneer (If you toast as shown in the below pic, it would be easier. I mean, I definitely find it easier to do as shown below ) and set aside
  • Now gather and grind all the ingredients listed below the heading ‘to grind together’ into a coarse paste without adding water
  • Transfer the ground paste to a container, put hung curd and mix well
  • Now put the toasted paneer and mix again gently
  • Prepare the tempering and pour it on the curry
  • Pair it along with phulka or any bread of your choice (we liked it more with phulka)
